Why I Am Running for Fort Bend County Commissioner

Why I Am Running for Fort Bend County Commissioner

I am running for Fort Bend County Commissioner because I believe our community deserves a leader who listens, who cares, and who works every single day to improve the quality of life for all families — not just a few. Fort Bend is one of the most diverse and fastest-growing counties in the nation. With that growth comes new opportunities, but also new challenges. We need strong, compassionate, and community-focused leadership to make sure every neighborhood is safe, every family has access to resources, and every voice is heard.

This campaign is not about politics — it is about people. It is about creating a stronger, safer, and more united Fort Bend for today and for the next generation. Together, we can shape a future where everyone has a seat at the table, every concern matters, and every resident feels proud to call Fort Bend home.

The Haroon Mughal Action Plan

Why are you running for Fort Bend County Commissioner, Precinct 4?

I am running to serve my community with integrity, transparency, and accountability. With years of public service and community involvement, I want to support smart growth, strong infrastructure, fiscal responsibility, and responsive county government that prioritizes residents’ quality of life.

What are your qualifications for why you’d be a strong candidate in this role?

I have over four years as Chief Deputy in the Fort Bend County District Clerk’s Office and 15 years as a business owner. With degrees in computer science and business management, I bring experience in government operations, budgeting, finance, and practical leadership.

If elected, what will be your top priorities?

My priorities include infrastructure improvement, traffic mobility, public safety partnerships, efficient county services, and transparent governance. I will listen to residents, address local concerns, and ensure county resources are used responsibly, efficiently, and equitably.

What should the county’s budgeting priorities be?

Budgeting should focus on core services, infrastructure, public safety, flood mitigation, and long-term planning. Fiscal responsibility, efficiency, and accountability must guide decisions so taxpayer dollars deliver measurable and lasting benefits for residents.

How do you plan to continue preparing for population growth as the county nears one million residents?

We must plan proactively by investing in infrastructure, transportation, drainage, and public services. Coordinated planning with municipalities, data-driven decision-making, and responsible development will help manage growth while preserving quality of life.

How do you plan to help grow economic development in the county?

I will support business-friendly policies, workforce development, and partnerships with local entrepreneurs. Streamlining county processes and investing in infrastructure will attract new jobs while strengthening existing small and local businesses.
